  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Places to take visitors in Brisbane: Kangaroo Point

Deciding where to take friends or family who are visiting Brisbane can often be a bit overwhelming. There are plenty of options, but it’s hard to know where to start. Kangaroo Point, a suburb within close proximity of Brisbane’s CBD and river, is a great place to take visitors because it offers many activities that will provide them with the quintessential Brisbane experience. With experiences ranging from abseiling to playgrounds and picnic areas, the possibilities for outdoor fun at Kangaroo Point are almost endless.

Where is Kangaroo Point in Brisbane?

Well-known to locals, Kangaroo Point is located right across the river from the heart of the city. It is very easy to access by car, and plenty of shaded riverside parking is available, making the area very accessible.

Take a quick walk from your car, and you will find paved walking and bike paths that will lead you to picnicking areas containing covered tables and public barbecues. It’s the perfect place to come for a family function or just to stroll along the river while you admire the city from this unique point of view.

Abseiling and Rock Climbing at Kangaroo Point

If you are looking for an experience that is a bit more action-packed, you will find no shortage of activities at Kangaroo Point. The area is renowned for the amazing abseiling and rock climbing opportunities that it has on offer. Not only will visitors to Brisbane get a thrill out of climbing or descending the cliffs, but they’ll get an uninterrupted view of Brisbane from atop the 20m high cliffs.

These activities are run by qualified instructors with high grade safety briefings and equipment, so you can let all your worries go, and just enjoy the views. After finishing your climb, you can take advantage of the barbecues at the base of the cliffs and relax by the river bank.

Kangaroo Point Bike Hire

Renting a bike is a fun way to see more of Kangaroo Point. With rentals starting at just $25 per person at Riverlife Brisbane, you can pedal to your hearts content while taking in the stunning views that surround you.

Why not ride along the beautiful Kangaroo Point bike paths, into Southbank, and through New Farm Park to show your visitors the greenest parts of Brisbane’s city centre? It’s a great way for tourists to see the sights while also getting some exercise.

You can also hire rollerblades and kayaks from Riverlife should you wish to mix up your modes of transport!

A tour of Brisbane’s CBD from Kangaroo Point

If you want to show visitors some other sights in the Kangaroo Point area, you could take the City Hopper—a city ferry that runs every 30 minutes, 7 days a week. Venture over to the CBD side of the river and take a quick tour of the shops, and maybe get at bite to eat in the Queen St Mall or any of the other outstanding restaurants and eateries that grace the streets of Brisbane.

Also worth checking out is Brisbane Square Library and the abundance of free activities they offer. Other family-friendly places to visit in the area, include the nautical-themed Captain Burke Park, the informative Queensland Maritime Museum and don’t forget the trendy Howard Smith Wharves, all serviced by the free  CityHopper ferry service.

Whether you’re looking to relax while having a picnic next to the river or interested in the thrill of abseiling down 20m high cliffs, Kangaroo Point is the place for you. Taking visitors to experience Kangaroo Point will not only allow them to see Brisbane in all its glory, but it might even inspire those who have lived here for a while to view this beautiful city in a new way; all while having fun and getting outdoors.
